The Future of Tech:
Don't Get Left Behind

Read Time: 3 min

The other day, I called my dentist to make a payment over the phone, as this is their normal practice. As I read my credit card numbers aloud to the receptionist, I felt that familiar ping of discomfort and I thought to myself, why don't they have a phone payment system so I can make this payment anytime I want? More importantly, just how secure is this transaction?

As the founder of a company that can offer a solution to this problem, I casually asked if the practice was open to using any AI or automation to offer a more secure and convenient way for customers to pay and the answer was a quick, "No."

I get it. Change is scary. There is a real fear that tech will replace people, or that the learning curve is too steep for a busy practice. But here is the hard truth: The "manual" way is becoming the "outdated" way.

The Cost of Staying Still

If your business has no website, no online payment options, and still relies on manual phone calls for booking appointments, confirmations, and follow ups, you aren't just "old school"—you’re losing money. The time it takes for you to follow up with someone, they will have found the next business to work with.

Sure, your systems are working, and the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" mentality applies in many cases, but when it comes to technology, modern customers are expecting modern conveniences. When a business refuses to meet that demand, they don't just lose efficiency; they lose trust and retention.

The Evolution Factor

History repeats itself, and we've been here before. When electricity was first introduced, people were terrified. They thought homes would burn down and they couldn't conceive of a world without candles as their primary source light source. Fear existed with the television and the internet. People felt television would make people lazy and rot our brains, and that the internet would eventually crash, wiping out everything digital.

And today? We can't even imagine living without them. AI and automation are simply the next version of that same shift. It’s not about replacing the human touch; it’s about powering the business so the humans can focus on what matters.

Action Without Overwhelm

You don't need to automate your entire business overnight. In fact, I encourage you to start with a simple exercise that will help you make a familiar decision faster.

Try this: Take a photo of the contents of your refrigerator and pantry. Upload it to an AI tool like ChatGPT or Gemini and ask, "What can I make for dinner with this?"
The Result: Watch it give you several options in seconds.

Once you see how it can simplify daily tasks, you'll start to see how it can handle the "heavy lifting" in your business. You'll realize that tech doesn't replace the human touch; it clears the clutter so you can focus on working smarter.

The businesses that win in this new era will be the ones that are letting go of how they've always done it and embracing new ways to offer convenience to their customers.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. You don't have to be a tech genius to have a tech-forward business. You just have to be willing to take that first step toward where you want to go.
